The effects of Physical abuse are all too well known so in this article, I will discuss methods to prevent physical abuse.
If you look at the statistics involved, you can understand how vital physical abuse prevention is for the functioning of the society and the possible positive changes in the long term.
Method 1: Advertisement of Government based services dedicated to punishing abusers. We all know that these services exist however they are rarely advertised to mainstream audience and lack 'decisive moment'.
What I mean by this is that, do you remember the Anti Smoking advertisements? I am sure everyone has seen them! Or how about the decisive action seen by the police when someone is on the rooftop trying to kill himself?
If there is similar commitment shown to preventing physical abuse, it would greatly increase the awareness of the issue as well as give accessibility to victims.
Method 2: Your help! Yes, yours! How? Well, there are several methods to go about this. One of them being making the abuser a very popular person. How? One word for you: Internet! There are already several websites dedicated to a similar cause but it would need plenty more volunteers to achieve a desirable effect where an abuser would be petrified before hurting a kid
There is more to this, you can also help by informing the authorities about the child and the situation he is involved in. Although you may 'what difference would it make if just a few guys do that?' Well, if your actions receive media or even official attention, it is very likely that this will spread in a 'trend' like fashion.
Method 3: School check-up of damage. I believe unlike verbal, emotional and psychological abuse which have no visible marks or effects. Physical abuse definitely gives more than the required proof, I mean come on, a kid having a black eye from 'falling from the stairs' doesn't make much sense.
I believe the school should not turn a blind eye to these aspects, neither should the doctors or anyone who deals with children on a regular basis.
Currently, what is required however is the authority to be given to schools to act on sufficient evidence of physical abuse. Considering the statistics relating to physical abuse, it would not be a 'weird' move to grant the school official authority in preventing child abuse.
Be a participant in saving a child's life.
